Proposed manuscript categories

The categories below are proposed for editorial approval. They do not yet constitute the final acceptance policy.

Systematic Review

A structured synthesis based on an explicit question, reproducible search and selection procedures, appraisal of the evidence, and a documented synthesis method.

Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis

A systematic review that includes statistical synthesis when the evidence and research question support quantitative pooling.

Scoping Review

An evidence synthesis used to map the breadth, characteristics, concepts, or gaps within a defined body of literature.

Umbrella Review or Review of Reviews

A synthesis that examines evidence from multiple existing reviews on a defined topic or question.

Rapid Review

An evidence synthesis that uses an accelerated method while reporting the methodological adaptations and their implications transparently.

Qualitative or Mixed-Methods Evidence Synthesis

A synthesis that integrates qualitative evidence, mixed evidence, or both through a method appropriate to the review question.
